Helping Michigan Build a More Resilient Manufacturing Ecosystem

As Michigan's economy evolves through the transition to electric vehicles and other advanced industries—the State established the Community & Worker Economic Transition Office (CWETO) under the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) to ensure employers, workers, and communities are positioned to shape and benefit from the state’s future economy.

Through the Economic Transition Office, Next Street developed data-driven tools, digital infrastructure, and statewide partnerships that help manufacturers access the resources needed to grow while providing the State with actionable insights to strengthen supply chain resilience and regional competitiveness.

Our Approach

  • Developed a statewide supplier mapping tool to identify manufacturers, assess supply chain risks, and inform investment decisions

  • Designed and launched the MI Hub for Manufacturers, a centralized platform connecting businesses to capital, expert advisors, funding opportunities, and industry resources

  • Convened public, private, and civic partners to align statewide manufacturing and economic development strategies

  • Built a coordinated ecosystem that helps manufacturers navigate resources and prepare for emerging industrial opportunities

Results

  • 280+ manufacturers onboarded to the MI Hub for Manufacturers

  • 16 ecosystem partners connected through the platform

  • 60+ business resources available

  • $17M in funding opportunities featured

  • 30+ quarterly events supporting manufacturers statewide
